An intercom replacement must answer three simple questions: Can the visitor reach the right recipient, is the conversation usable and is the expected opening ordered? Separated these functions helps to describe a breakdown. An absent call, a difficult conversation and a door that does not open do not automatically designate the same equipment to be taken over.

Choose features before choosing technology
The presence of video, the number of inputs and the destination of the calls guide the solution. A track using the IP network also requires examining its connections and administration; reuse of cables cannot be assumed. The dimensions of the plate, the old holes and the finishes must be noted so that the adaptation remains clean and accessible for maintenance.
Finish with a test with the person who will use the facility
The test must follow the agreed route from the entrance: call, response, conversation, image if provided and opening command. Note the functions checked and any points remaining to be addressed.
