Start from your situation.
A new camera, moved office or renovation may reveal the limitations of existing wiring. Before planning the passages, you must understand the uses and look at the places: location of the equipment, available sheaths, access to the premises and finishing constraints. This preparation provides a framework for the work and makes it possible to distinguish what can be reused from what needs to be taken up. It also facilitates coordination with companies already present on the site.
Alltech works on connections and their organization in the building. The work includes, depending on the perimeter chosen, cable passages, connections and bay identification. For an operation on an occupied site, the steps are prepared with the people concerned in order to take into account the accessible spaces and the services used. The connection points and their destination must remain understandable for the teams who will then monitor your installation.

The points that count.
Preparing the Paths
Examine the available passages, distances and necessary arrivals before finalizing the route. On-site identification helps to anticipate installation difficulties.
Organize connections
Connecting sockets, equipment and bays with useful tracking. The destination of each link must be able to be found when changing.
Coordinate the construction site
Specify who passes the cables, who connects the equipment and who configures them. This distribution makes the interventions of the different professions easier to organize.
Intersecting services.
Correct continuity is not enough
In a measurement campaign, continuity passes but the overall qualification still reveals a lack of crosstalk. The report distinguishes the control carried out from the recovery remaining to be carried out.

A wiring plan must meet today's requirements and remain legible when a station is moved, a Wi-Fi terminal is added or a camera must be maintained. The preparation brings the destination of each link together, its route, its arrival in the bay and the conditions of access. In an occupied building, it also specifies the steps where existing services can be affected.
Three useful documents at different times
| Document or statement | Its role in the project |
|---|---|
| Locations and pathways | Locate the sockets, equipment and passages envisaged before the work and finishes. |
| Identification of links | Match the points served and their arrivals to find a connection during a modification. |
| Results of planned controls | Restore the examined links, the type of test performed and the reserves that still require action. |
Continuity, qualification and certification: specify the control requested
These words do not describe the same level of verification. A basic connection check alone does not demonstrate the expected transmission performance. The project must therefore specify the type of test and the report to be submitted. The Fluke Networks technical documentation on wiring controls explains these differences. A liaison certification remains separate from company certification.
The case followed by Alltech makes this distinction very concrete: a link passes the continuity check, but the overall result remains in failure with a crosstalk fault. The report retains this point to be taken up and provides a precise basis for the continuation of the intervention. Read the progress of the measurement campaign.
Coordinate the building part and the IT part
Before installation, identify who prepares the passages, who supplies and connects the sockets, who installs the active equipment and who administers it. It is also necessary to check the usable space in the bays and access after finishing. A theoretical location can become difficult to use if we forget the arrivals, connections or maintenance.
Alltech carries out the field work defined in the project. Agedis provides additional equipment and network administration. For a Wi-Fi network, the connections and the location of access points are brought closer to the needs in the spaces to be served.
The connection is also being prepared in the bay.
Before getting started.
Can we use an existing duct?
It depends on its condition, its accessibility and the space available. The path is verified on site before retaining this solution in the project.
Who is in charge of the network after wiring?
The installation of connections and IT administration constitute two areas to be clarified. Alltech works on construction; Agedis can support network configuration and monitoring.
